This piece is inspired by my time as artist in residence at the Bankside Hotel during the Totally Thames Festival, Being so close to the river has really given me a deeper sense of its energy and importance. I have spent a lot of time on the shore underneath Blackfriars Bridge and been mesmerised by the tidal nature of the river. When you are standing on what feels like a coastal beach it is hard to imagine that in just a few hours, the water will rise 7 meters above with such a force. And from that force comes wonderful reflections on the surface, I've tried to capture that energy and interaction between the elements of water and light. This pieces is infused with a drop of water from the Thames as a symbolic act of connection. Pairs well with Under Blackfriars Bridge II.
